First book on Organic Crop Breeding

0470958588.jpgA book on Organic Crop Breeding has been published by  Prof. dr. Edith T. Lammerts van Bueren and Prof. Dr. Jim Myers, Plant Breeding at Oregon State University, co-produced by a large group of authors (50).  It contains some chapters on broader issues, such as breeding for disease resistance (under organic management), weed suppression, genetic diversity or nutrient efficiency, and some crop specific chapters with examples of running organic breeding programs or research. It covers both European and USA networks as much as possible, but also includes some examples of the south in the chapter on participatory approaches and in the rice chapter.
